The technically facile canvases of young Latin American painter, Esteban Ocampo-Giraldo, depict scenes from memory, merging nostalgia and contemporary adult life. Christina Nafziger writes the artist “creates paintings that not only offer us a window into a scene from his life, but also capture a memory, a feeling…. His work employs dynamic and often dramatic, first person perspectives that allow you to insert yourself into the frame, joining the artist in these moments of kinship and joy.” (Art Maze Magazine) The artist states: “I do not want the images to feel specifically mine; rather I want them to speak in a more universal language that spectators can related to in their own ways, recognizing the humour, connection and loss in everyday life.”

In addition, the artist has an ongoing series of swimming pool commissions. The artist creates "portraits" of backyards from a birds eye view created in his mind (rather than using photographs and drone technology -- he prefers the imagined to the technical). These settings are similar to those personally meaningful to the artist and his childhood, and the subject matter becomes a playful substitute for the classic family portrait.

Born in Manziales, Colombia in 1987, the artist received his MFA from the New York Academy of Art before returning to his native country. Related works are featured in top collections, including the Beth Rudin DeWoody Collection in West Palm Beach.
